Finding Growth in Misery

As a young adult I was always looking for a challenge, but wasn’t until I joined the the military that I truly had push myself through discomfort and challenge myself.
In the Marine Corps we fuel ourselves on the blood sweat and tears that hard work brings. Bootcamp, BRC, Selection, it is only through the pain and misery that we can grow and achieve everything we want to accomplish.
After we get out it is easy to become complacent, fat and happy. But we all miss the struggle. I wanted to put myself in an uncomfortable place again. I wanted to challenge myself to do something I had never done. I wanted to to further develop myself and a skill.
Trying Jujitsu for the first time as a 37 year old was extremely humbling. For me personally, the only way I can truly enjoy my success is through the satisfaction of hard work. The real challenge was putting myself in the miserable place of getting my ass kicked everyday, week after week, continuing to come back for more.
BUT THEN IT HAPPENED, I GREW.
I grew, and I continue you to grow. Without pain, there is no growth. Staying in your comfort zone will only keep you where you are at. Push yourself to grow!
WHAT IS YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE?
